This exciting maze has beads shaped like an ant chasing a sugar cube. Children love pushing the ant and watching the cube move along. Mazes are a classic way to promote pre-writing skills as children push objects along a track continuously. As the distances covered are very short, this can be introduced at a very early age.
A critical component of writing is to keep the pencil/ pen on paper continuously to write words/ sentences. Pushing an object along a given track, helps a child build this skill toward writing. It also enhances the muscle strength of the fingers.
As the children’s enjoy and watch closely the movement of the ant, it lays the foundation for visual tracking, which is a great help for reading.
As this a highly engaging activity, children tend to push the pieces around for long durations, thus building attention span and concentration. An excellent way to introduce pre-writing skills through a toy.

Show the child how to push the ant and make the cube move from one end to the other. As the children keep playing with this toy, their hand movements get smoother and smoother until at some point they are able to move the cube without lifting their hands off the ant.
