Children learn to correlate 3D objects with their 2D counterparts and realise each side of a 3D object is in fact 2D, reinforcing partial pairing. Take some of the pieces and introduce names one by one in 3 stages
a. Introduction: Name clearly
b. Recognition: Ask the child to identify (eg. - "Which is a Cylinder?")
c. Confirmation: Ask the child, “What is this?” (eg. - the child answers “Cylinder”)
Once the child is familiar with 2D-3D translation, memory games can be played. Place the blocks on a tray in another room. Place an indicator on any one shape on the base.
